Taproots at Camp Walden is proud to announce that it has received a generous grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity of Detroit. The funds will help support the continued growth and accessibility of camp programming for children from low-income households in Michigan.

This funding will directly enhance the Taproots Mini-Week program held in August 2026. The grant will be used to expand programming, allowing more children to attend Mini-Week, a tuition-free overnight camp experience at Camp Walden.

“Taproots is deeply grateful for this partnership,” said Jen Hartzog, Executive Director of Taproots. “This grant allows us to continue growing a community where children feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow and learn.”

Variety the Children’s Charity is known for its commitment to improving the lives of children who are sick, disadvantaged, or living with disabilities. Their support of Taproots reflects a shared dedication to inclusion, access, and opportunity for all children.
