How It Works:
Our Programs & Camperships

Taproots Mini-Week
Taproots Mini-Week is a tuition-free mini-week of camp that takes place every August. Working in partnership with other organizations in Michigan, Taproots brings children from low-income households to Camp Walden for a five day, four night sleep-away camp experience. Mini Week offers kids a taste of the independence and activities of overnight camp – campfires & s’mores, mess hall meals, swimming in the lake, arts & crafts, sports & games, cabin life, and much more.

Taproots Camperships
Our campership program provides tuition and transportation for a two-week session at Camp Walden to children from low-income households. Campers can choose to attend any regularly scheduled two-week session of Camp. Campership recipients have previously attended the Taproots Mini-Week or are children who have been identified as camp-ready and referred to Taproots by camp alumni or partner organizations.
